Kevin was our guide on our coach tour from Isle of Lewis to Isle of Harris. My sister commented that he was “ brilliant” . We both agree that Kevin’s friendly, personable manner, excellent storytelling and knowledge of the area with his ability to give out information of facts and figures, makes him a great tour guide. He planned the itinerary so it suited the needs of our group. As MacLeods’, we were fortunate, as Kevin was familiar with MacLeod history and traditions and he was able to bring the history into his talk. We stopped at a soccer hall and he gave a talk about St Columba’s Ui church and the Ui trust. Kevin is aware of local happenings and includes these into the itinerary. He scheduled our bus trip, taking in the amazing weaving on the Isle of Harris, as well as including a visit to a local community craft event.

Uilleam (William) Bear came on tour with me a couple of years back. We share a common ancestor, Dr William Fraser Tolmie. He was a physician with the Hudson’s Bay Company and is known for his botanical discoveries and work in the American North West. A couple of my Canadian cousins found Uilleam and sent him over to see the land of his ancestors. He was delighted that his tour was blessed with excellent weather.
