The MacLeod Midi Tour

Maybe your busy vacation schedule means you only have three days to ‘do’ Skye. Do not worry. It is certainly enough time to check out the Chief’s Castle of Dunvegan, a highlight for any MacLeod. This tour also leaves time for other island attractions. We can take one day to get to the Isle of Skye, one day to see the highlights of the island including of course the MacLeod Castle of Dunvegan and one day to return.

Day 1:

You are collected from your hotel in Edinburgh or the surrounding area. We drive to Skye, stopping at Glencoe, scene of an infamous massacre and then on to Fort William for lunch. We cross to the Isle of Skye via the quaint Glenelg ferry or perhaps across the Skye bridge. The bridge route also affords time for a photo-stop at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, featured in many films. We carry on to our accommodation near Dunvegan Castle.  Dinner will also be arranged.

Day 2:

After breakfast we drive to Dunvegan Castle, the highlight of the tour. We spend the morning exploring the Castle and Garden with me as your Guide. After lunch there are many possible additional attractions to explore. As your personal guide with an intimate knowledge of the island, I can take you to remote places that are little visited by tourists but of special interest to MacLeods. Alternatively, you may wish to circuit the Trotternish peninsula with it’s well-known sights such as the Quirang, also featured in film and television.  We return to our accommodation after taking an evening meal in one of the many fine restaurants on the island. Or perhaps you want to have a ‘fish supper’ from a local ‘chippy’.

Day 3:

We leave the Highlands but not before visiting famous Loch Ness, home of Nessie. We then continue southwards through the Heart of Scotland, an area with much to see that many visitors pass by without stopping. A highlight there could be a visit to the famous Queen’s view; but which Queen? There lies a story. After dinner on the way, we return to the Edinburgh area.
